Clinical Supervision

What Is Supervision?

Supervision is an opportunity for practitioners to discuss casework in a supportive and confidential environment, allowing for reflection and encouraging best practice, growth and development. Supervision is an essential part of ongoing therapeutic practice, and is a requirement of all professional associations.

During supervision, practitioners can review their work in order to learn from experience and improve their practice. The focus is to achieve the best possible quality of service for clients. Practitioners are encouraged to examine their practice, and to recognise their strengths, as well as identifying areas for improvement and further development.

Although it is not training or CPD per se, supervision does involve an element of learning, and can provide a space to practice techniques or role play scenarios if this is deemed to be helpful. It is also an opportunity to keep up to date with the latest developments within the field of therapy, and to discuss research and developments pertaining to practice.

I offer both GROUP and ONE-TO-ONE SUPERVISION sessions.

*If you are new to my supervision group, please contact me first to agree a supervision contract before booking.

Group Supervision:

Group supervision is an opportunity to get together with other practitioners and learn from your collective experience. In an often solitary profession, this can be a great way to meet other colleagues and reconnect within a group setting.

The topics covered are many and varied, and sessions are vibrant, engaging, supportive, inspiring and energising. You don’t have to have something to talk about in order to join group supervision – sometimes it is nice to just listen and learn!

The sessions are limited to a maximum of six participants to ensure everyone is able to discuss a topic of their choice. If you require more time to discuss a topic than might be available in a group session, consider booking a one-to-one session – details below.

All group supervision sessions are currently held online, last one hour, and cost £20 per person (payable in advance.)

Please pre-book for each session, either using the booking links above, or by getting on touch.

One-to-one Supervision:

One-to-one supervision is perfect for when you need more time to discuss in-depth aspects of your practice. In group supervision, time is necessarily limited per person to allow everyone to bring their discussion topics. One-to-one supervision can provide ample time and space to allow for deep and thorough personalised discussion.

It could be the right choice for the following situations…

  • complex client case work requiring more time to discuss and reflect
  • sensitive or confidential issues not appropriate for sharing within a group
  • detailed aspects of your own practice that require more time to discuss
  • discission of your own progression as a practitioner – including training, specialising, etc.
  • discussion regarding your business – starting up, growing, marketing strategies, etc.

I offer one-to-one supervision in the following formats:

  • 30 minutes – £35
  • 60 minutes – £70

This can be arranged as required, and can be in person at The Observatory, or online
